Mohammed Ali
From a painter's boy at the countryside of Kentucky to one of the most celebrated sports heroes of the past century. No boxer in history appeals as much to the imagination as Mohammed Ali. His exceptional performance in the ring combined with his charismatic appearance outside the ring made him an icon, and as an explicit frontman of the black power movement he was of great importance in the battle against discrimination.
No heavyweight boxer has defended his world title as many times as Mohammed Ali (Cassius Clay). In 2005 Ali received the American Medal for the Freedom of Speech given to him by president George W. Bush, for his merits for the sports and the Civil Rights Movement.
